Organic Bedding for a Good Night’s Sleep

After a long day of checking out all the latest green products in flooring, appliances, and lighting, wouldn’t you like to know that you’re nestling into earth friendly linens as well? Considering the amount of time we spend sleeping each day, the bedroom should be one of the first places that we go green, both for our benefit as well as the environments.

The fibers used in conventional cotton bedding contain remnants of the herbicides and insecticides used in growing cotton, as well as chemicals that act as flame retardants. Organic bedding is free of these toxins, allowing us to sleep in a pure, environmentally friendly haven.

As going green has become a household term, the price points have dropped and availability has skyrocketed for organic bedding. Now environmentally friendly bedding can be found anywhere from high end luxury boutiques to Target and everywhere in between. At Target, a 250 thread count organic cotton sheet set is a steal at $74.99 for a Queen size, and is available in several neutral solids. Crate and Barrel and Bed, Bath, and Beyond also feature organic bedding at a reasonable price point.

Some of the best organic bedding on the market currently is available at Pottery Barn. Known for their fun and stylish bedding, Pottery Barn now has a fabulous selection of organic sheeting, duvet covers, quilts, coverlets, bedskirts, and blankets. The same wide variety of prints and solids that are available in PB’s regular bedding line are available in organic, including lots of summery stripes and fresh florals.

With all of these great options for environmentally friendly bedding that won’t break the budget, there’s no reason not to go green at night. You’ll feel better resting your head down on a pillow that is completely natural and without unnecessary chemicals. Sweet dreams!

it’s great to see the trend go from solid colors to beautiful prints for organic bedding. it’s also great to see the prices drop and places like target carrying the lines. $80 dollars is a great value. i’m sure it’s not the MOST comfortable option, but if it’s organic, you know you’re getting something good for you.
